Experiencing Barcelona

One of the characteristics which helps make Barcelona a sunny and lively city is the presence of lots of parks; something that can give a breather to hectic daily life.

The first to be mentioned is the Parc Guell, another work of genious by Antoni Gaudi, and perhaps one of the biggest. The park is located in the district of Gracia, in the northern part of Barcelona, and is easily accessible by metro (Vallcarca or even better Lesseps stop because of the escalators leading to the entrance to the park). Once you have reached the park, you can admire the impressive entrance with the famous giant mosaic lizard and benches, one of the city’s symbols, from which you can enjoy a perfect view over the whole of the city. Read on for more information on the sights of Barcelona, along with information about the city and on all of the Albergo barcellona available.

Now for Montjuic. This is where Castell Montjuic and its park are located; considered a symbol of the Castilian oppression of Barcelona. It was built by Philip IV of Bourbon in 1640 with the intent to punish the city of Barcelona for its surrender to the French.

Situated on the highest point of the city you can find the Tibidabo, a 100 year old park where you can look out on to the sea. The exact location of this park is at Eixample Street, sitting on the ledge of the mountains leading out of Barcelona. There is something here for all and is therefore a ‘must see’ in Barcelona.

The most central green heaven is the Ciutadella park, located where there once stood a military citadel of which some original buildings remain (for example, the Arsenal; now the headquarters of the Catalonian Parliament). This tranquil area is perfect for relaxation away from the traffic and chaos of the city. Two other important buildings are housed in this area: the Museum of Zoology and the zoological park.

In short, the city is full of parks and green areas that can give breath of fresh air away from the traffic and chaos of the centre. Places to relax and rest during an intense holiday in the capital of Catalonia are numerous. There are also many places to stay near to the before mentioned city parks; you can choose from one of the comfortable Barcelona apartments (or Appartamenti a barcellona) or a Hotel a barcellona. All is left to do is to decide which park you wish to be nearest to and search for the ideal accommodation.
