Swinging A Golf Club

If you master how to swing a golf club properly when you first start playing, your golf game will always be at its best possible level. Do you want a good golf swing from the very beginning? Follow these steps to a perfect golf swing.

1. First stand so the direction you’re hitting in is directly to the left (for right-handed golfers) of your body. Place your feet flat on the ground, with each foot directly beneath its corresponding shoulder. Hold your spine straight but relaxed. The ball should be about four to six inches in front of you, centered between your feet. This stance is critical for how to swing a golf club correctly.

2. Line the club up with the center of your body, with the head against the ball. Your arms should be straight but relaxed if your club is properly fitted to you. 3. On your back swing, your front (leading) should be straight with the wrist at a 90 degree angle from the club, and your back elbow should be bent at a 90 degree angle. This feels unnatural at first, so practice it from front position to back until you can make the transition smoothly.

4. The second part of how to swing a golf club is the perfect downstroke. If you’ve done everything correctly up to this point, this is an easy step to master. Starting with your knees, move your body forward to transfer your weight from back to front – moving up through thighs, hips, then torso as you bring the club down. This brings your entire body mass energy to bear against the ball, providing you with a better golf swing than most of your friends. The speed of the club head depends on that mass – remember, Tiger Woods has a club speed about 20% higher than that of the average pro. When you’ve learned how to properly swing a golf club, you can start working toward this speed.

5. In the downswing, keep your straight arm straight, and let the club head lag behind the rest of the club, as if it were on a rope rather than a rod. Shift your weight so that you end balanced on your lead foot. The whole motion – upswing and downswing – should be smooth and seamless. Start slowly when you first learn how to swing a golf club. And practice the Tiger Woods style – he follows this pattern, but his club head does almost two complete circles in the course of his swing, giving it enormous momentum.
