Puppy Info: Why Exercise Is Vital
Exercise, along with nutritious diet, are key to help your dog stay healthy.
The amount of exercise that your dog requires is dependent on the breed of dog that you have, their size, age and the activity level comfortable for them. Dogs that are not exercised regularly currently are likely to need time to build up stamina. Never push your dog too far that it makes them uncomfortable.
It is important to take into consideration the dog’s ability to exercise. Dogs that are hurt or dogs that are very overweight may not be able to do as much exercise as you would like them to do. Follow the vet’s advice.
Of course, you also need to be sure that the dog’s exercise level is enjoyable for the dog too. Lazy dogs, so to speak, need to be encouraged to exercise. When acceptable, do so.
Never over exercise a dog either. This can cause them to become ill, fatigued and often can lead to sudden health problems. Take care of the exercise that you provide your dog as you do for yourself.
Dogs that are reluctant to exercise are usually so because they are unused to doing so. They are not unable to exercise but do not have any interest in running or playing. When this is not caused by any ailment to the dog, it may be because they are simply not interested.
What’s important to remember is that nearly all dogs will do almost anything that you want them to do as long as it means positive attention from you. This is a powerful weapon that all dog owners should remember when it comes to exercise.
Find an activity that you and your dog can do together and make that an integral part of their routine. They will love it. And you will be building a bond.
