Becoming a Child Model

Did you know that Raven Symone, star of "That’s So Raven" began her successful acting career as a child model?  In fact many supermodels, television and movie stars began their careers with modeling agents – not acting agents – when they were just babies.  Christie Brinkley, Katherine Heigl and Brooke Shields are a few well known people whose big breaks came because of their exposure in catalogs such as Sears, Lord and Taylor and magazines, such as Seventeen.  If you would like to get your child into show business, the best place to start is in child modeling.

So, how want some tips on becoming a child model?  I have a few.

First of all you have to decide if it’s right for your child and for you.  It’s hard work.  It is hard on you, and although the child isn’t really working in the sense of performing manual labor, it is still hard on them at times: the long waiting times, the pain of being rejected, the photographic shoots can be arduous; even posing can get old and become tiring after awhile.  So, before you take the plunge make sure you understand the toll it will have on your child in pursuit of becoming a child model.

Second, Stop Procrastinating – Just Do It.

The hardest step is the first one.  If you’ve decided that becoming a child model is right for your child then you must not procrastinate.  Do your research.  A lot of people think, “Oh No!  I have to research?”  It’s not that hard!  You can start by buying a couple of books that I’ve reviewed on baby-a-model.com.  Surf the Internet looking for related topics.  Go to the library.  Talk to modeling agents.  You’ll soon find you know all you need to know to get started.  After you’ve laid the groundwork you’ll find it is not nearly as hard as it seems to get started.  Who knows?  Your child may be the next Gerber Baby or the cover child of Parent’s Magazine.  But it won’t happen until you take that first step.
